40th Anniversary Gala Steinbruck Honorees

On April 9, nearly 600 friends and supporters of N Street Village came together at The Ritz-Carlton in Washington, D.C., for N Street Village’s 40th Anniversary Gala. This annual event celebrates those in our community who help homeless and low-income women make positive changes in their lives and also honors the achievements of our clients. This year’s gala was a huge success, raising more than $760,000!

At this year’s gala, we recognized three remarkable N Street Village clients who are an inspiration to all of us: Evelyn Brensen, Marshalle Gaither, and Ann Hill. The women received the N Street Village Steinbruck Award, which is presented annually to the clients whose leadership, persistence and determination reflect that of Erna and John Steinbruck, the co-founders of N Street Village.

In this video, which was shown at the gala, Evelyn, Marshalle, and Ann share what brought them to N Street Village and how their experience in our programs changed their lives for the better.

      I salute these amazing women who have remained strong in the face of opposition. I especially salute my sister in Christ Ann Hill who always sees the best in people no matter what she is going through. Congratulations Ann, when I think of you, I think of these words penned by the late great poet and author, Dr. Maya Angelou;
      “Just like moons and like suns, With the certainty of tides, Just like hopes springing high,Still I’ll rise.”
      I pray that God will continue to bless you and all of the Women at N Street Village, most of all I pray His mercy and blessings will continue to rain down unlimited support on N Street Village and raise up more places like theirs that offer hope for Women in distress. Continue to Rise Ladies, Rise! ~Geri Murphy
